Frequently Asked Questions About the Phuket-Kai Island Tour

Q. I'm not a strong swimmer. Can I still participate in the trial session?

Yes, that's no problem! There are many beaches with shallow waters around Kai Island, and since you'll be wearing a life jacket while snorkeling, even those who can't swim can participate with confidence. You can fully enjoy the beautiful ocean scenery even in the shallows.

Q. What should I wear on the day of the trial session?
Please arrive wearing your swimsuit and clothing that can get wet (such as a rash guard, T-shirt, or shorts). Because the sun is strong, we recommend wearing a long-sleeved rash guard for sun protection. Please also bring water shoes or beach sandals to protect your feet.
Q. Can young children and elderly family members participate as well?
While the recommended age range varies by tour package, Kai Island—with its many gently sloping, calm beaches—is a remote island where everyone from children to seniors can enjoy themselves together. Since travel is primarily by boat, it’s also recommended for those who aren’t particularly confident in their physical stamina. Participation requirements vary by tour package, so please check them when making your reservation.

Since this tour to Koh Kai had a shorter travel time than the one to Koh Phi Phi, I was able to join it without any hesitation. I was worried about getting seasick, so I brought motion sickness medication with me, but they also gave it out for free at the destination. I’d thought that a long tour to a remote island might be a bit tough, so this short, enjoyable itinerary was just right. I saw lots of fish while snorkeling, and it was a lot of fun. There were some spots with a slight current, so I think it’s safer to keep an eye on your surroundings while swimming. The guide provided great support—watching our belongings while we were in the water and even recording videos of us snorkeling. If I ever have the chance to visit Thailand again, I’d definitely book with them.

Four of us girls used this service for our college graduation trip. On the speedboat, the tour organizer explained a lot of important details—such as which optional activities to choose on the island, the island’s rules, and the meeting time to return to the boat—but since everything was in English, our private guide translated it for us, which was a huge help. She was also incredibly helpful in passing this information on to the other Japanese passengers on our speedboat. During the tour, she took photos for us and struck the perfect balance—she’d give us directions and then say, “Enjoy yourselves, the four of you—I’ll be waiting here,” making sure to give us plenty of time to ourselves. We were completely satisfied!

We took a tour of the three islands of Kai during our honeymoon. Since the local staff’s guidance was mainly in English and Chinese, it was a huge relief just to have someone there to provide support in Japanese. It was reassuring to have them watch our belongings while we swam, take lots of photos of the two of us, and stay close by even while we were snorkeling. They also told us about the unique features and must-see spots on each island, which helped us enjoy the tour even more. Our guide, Ai, was very easy to talk to, and the time we spent together became a wonderful memory. It was one of the most memorable experiences of our honeymoon!

I was so impressed that I’d definitely recommend this tour if you visit Phuket—it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. While I liked that the boat was fast, it was quite rocky, so it might be tough for those prone to seasickness. Also, to be honest, it was hard to understand the tour if you joined one with only an English-speaking guide, and since there are so many other tour companies around, there’s a risk of getting lost—so I felt much more at ease with a Japanese-speaking guide.
