In recent years, the number of sanctuary-type facilities that take elephant conservation and welfare into consideration has been increasing, and experiences centered on feeding and observation, rather than elephant rides, are also spreading.

Since the content and policies of each facility vary greatly, it is important to check the features of each facility in advance and choose the plan that best suits your objectives.

Not only did I have trouble communicating in Japanese, but I also struggled to make myself understood in English. On top of that, my cell phone connection was spotty, which made me feel uneasy. Once I met up with the guide, they handled all the interpreting for me, recommended lots of great spots, and provided very thorough explanations. Thanks to them, I was able to enjoy sightseeing without any trouble and with complete peace of mind!

We had a different guide than on the first day, and since he wasn’t Japanese, I was a little nervous at first. However, he turned out to be very cheerful and easygoing, and he gave us an enjoyable tour from a perspective unique to a local. The Japanese guide also reassured us by saying, “Please contact me if you need anything,” which allowed us to enjoy our trip with peace of mind.

I’m so glad I asked Mr. Nara to take me diving at Phi Phi Island—it was a long-cherished dream of mine. He responded quickly to my booking request, which put me at ease right from the start. Since it was a one-on-one session, I was able to dive at my own pace, and he gave me precise guidance on the skills I struggled with. Even in the short time between my first and third dives, I feel like I’ve made a bit of progress. The large boat was also extremely comfortable, and the quality of the facilities and meals was particularly impressive compared to any other boats I’ve used both in Japan and abroad. He took plenty of photos for me, making it an unforgettable diving experience.

Since it was a tour led by a Japanese wife and her Thai husband, I really appreciated that there was no extra charge for a Japanese-speaking guide—something that’s often required on other tours. Our guide, Ai-san, was very kind and approachable. The itinerary was packed with activities—shooting, temple visits, go-karting, zip-lining, the Old Town, Tiger Kingdom, and even an elephant experience—and I was completely satisfied. Although we had to make a major change to our plans after I got injured while go-karting, our guide kindly stopped by a pharmacy for me, and afterward, we were still able to go on the zip line, which was something I’d been looking forward to. Since they flexibly adjusted the schedule and itinerary to suit the situation at any given moment, it was a tour that truly offered a high degree of freedom. I highly recommend it to anyone who’s on the fence.

Since this tour to Koh Kai had a shorter travel time than the one to Koh Phi Phi, I was able to join it without any hesitation. I was worried about getting seasick, so I brought motion sickness medication with me, but they also gave it out for free at the destination. I’d thought that a long tour to a remote island might be a bit tough, so this short, enjoyable itinerary was just right. I saw lots of fish while snorkeling, and it was a lot of fun. There were some spots with a slight current, so I think it’s safer to keep an eye on your surroundings while swimming. The guide provided great support—watching our belongings while we were in the water and even recording videos of us snorkeling. If I ever have the chance to visit Thailand again, I’d definitely book with them.
